March 23-25, 2012

$20,000 GUARANTEED PURSE

The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) is kicking off the 2012 ACO Cornhole season with its first tour stop in Vidalia, Georgia.

In its inaugural year, the ACO Vidalia Cornhole Cup promises to attract cornhole players and enthusiasts from around Georgia and neighboring states. This event is open to cornhole players of all skill levels.

A player can enter the ACO Vidalia Cornhole Cup as a singles entrant, a doubles entrant, or a Crew – which is the best value. A Crew can enter the $20,000 ACO Vidalia Cornhole Cup challenge for $250 ($62.50 per Crew member). A Crew is given the opportunity to participate in all four cash payout events. These include: Luck of the Draw, Open Singles, Open Doubles, and Vidalia Cornhole Cup competition – a minimum of 8 guaranteed games for all Crew members.

The Crew competition is points-based concept developed exclusively by the ACO. A Crew consists of four cornhole players accumulating points based on each player’s finish in the Open Singles and each of the teams finish in the Open Doubles. The Crew with the lowest overall point total wins the coveted ACO Vidalia Cornhole Cup.

Sweet Health

Sweet onions are a member of the 500-plus allium family. While garlic, another allium, has been highly touted as a cancer preventative, most people consume far greater quantities of onions. As Americans search for low-fat, low-salt, but tasty meals, they’re eating more onions – almost 18 pounds per person, which is 50% more than a decade ago.

Onion symbolism

The onion was an ancient symbol of eternity because of the concentric circles that it contains. For this reason, Russian and other orthodox churches are designed with onion domes, a bulb-shaped dome with a pointy top.

Happy Hanukkah from the Vidalia Area!

During their desert sojourn, the ancient Hebrews wept for the lack of the onions they became accustomed to eating in Egypt. In Numbers 11:5, the children of Israel lament the meager desert diet enforced by the Exodus: “We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic.”
